TURNING PRESENT ACADEMIC STUDY TO SUCCESSFUL CAREER
Genesis 2: 15-20,22, Ecclesiastes 11: 4-6; 1 Thessalonians 4: 11-12.
When God created man at the beginning, He gave him every effort to have dominion and to succeed. One can say that, the learning process that Adam passed through in the Garden of Eden, gave him the strength to succeed out side the garden. The knowledge gained at any point in a time, par4ticularly in the upper life or higher institution is never lost but will give a profitable ambition.
All the disciplines in the higher institution of learning or the training gained while in higher are mostly based on the fact of meeting some specific needs of the society. Hence, creating room to apply the acquired knowledge to serve the world. Some despised courses are as lucrative as the others, which we refer to as professional courses, only if those interested in it, are matured psychologically to know how to apply its knowledge.
THE DEMAND OF THE SOCIETY
The demand of the “ mixed multitude “ of people may lead to the rethink of our present pursuit. We have various people in and around the campus with diverse opinions on what constitute “better course” better means of survival. But a Christian student need not to be perplexed about his present course of study but should be more concerned on what to do with his chosen career in future. Though the desire to succeed in any life’s endeavor is natural and urge for self-reliance is as old as man, but God’s will and blessings transcend them all. Thus we should not be clouded with what the world holds for our chosen fields but what we can make out from it in the future. Listening to present day rattles about “good” and “bad” courses brings discouragement to the hearts of individuals especially the youths who see them selves as “unfortunate” as a result of their present course of study.
No discipline is irrelevant today when we consider the fact that the demands of the society are so great. What seems to be irrelevant today may be the “hot cake” tomorrow. The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes to do, but in liking what one has to do.
